Session 3 Outline – Spiritual Disciplines

Read Romans 8:29, 1 John 3:2, 1 Timothy 4:7, Hebrews 12:14, Proverbs 27:17, Romans 8:28, Luke 19:1-10

1.        Spiritual Disciplines (prayer, studying the Word, fasting, etc.) require discipline. 

-          When is discipline difficult?

-          When is discipline not difficult?

-          How can this relate to our players?

 

2.       According to Hebrews 12:14 and 1 Timothy 4:7, why is Spiritual Discipline important?

 

3.       What is the goal of the spiritual disciplines? Why must we be careful to remember that they are means and not ends?  Can you relate this to working with your team in any way?

 

4.       There are 3 Primary Ways that God Changes People into more Christ-like people.

a.       People – Proverbs 27:17

b.      Circumstances – Romans 8:28

c.       Spiritual Disciplines

How should this affect how we live our lives?

 

5.       The story of Zacchaeus is found in Luke 19:1-10.  What can we draw out from this story in regards to our responsibility in the spiritual disciplines and seeking God in our lives?
