Scripture Passages: 2 Timothy 2:3-4

Discussion Questions:

1.       How does 2 Timothy 2:3-4 describe the believer?

 

2.       How should the local church resemble the huddle of a football team?

 

3.       In 1st Timothy Paul uses a military term (parangello in Greek) five times exhorting Timothy.  The definition for        

            parangello is: to issue a military order which much be obeyed. 

 

a.       1 Timothy 1:3 “I urge you to say in Ephesus”

b.      1 Timothy 4:11 “Command and teach these things”

c.       1 Timothy 5:7 “Command these things”

d.      1 Timothy 6:13 “I urge you”

e.      1 Timothy 6:17 “urge”

 

What do these say about the Christian life? What was Paul attempting to do through Timothy?

 

4.       How does 2 Timothy 2:3-4 speak of the enlistment of a soldier? What does it say about you as a believer?

 

5.       What is the focus of a soldier’s life?  What is meant by entaglements?

 

6.       What does Ephesians 6:11-13 imply about the Christian life?  How are we as soldiers to be equipped?

 

7.       As a soldier, what is the disciple of Christ’s ultimate command? (Matthew 28:18-20)

 

8.       As soldiers, what are our three greatest enemies?
